Review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) by Phillip K — 16 May 2009
The first Star Trek movie tries to hard to be something it is not--2001: A Space Odyssey. While it tries to keep the audience awe-inspired, it lacks the substance that always made Star Trek fun and balanced.
If you're new to the Star Trek series, I'd suggest skipping over this film and move on over to Star Trek 2, 4, or the more recent reboot of this original title.
