Never a Star Trek fan, but this was far better than anything produced for TV... An awesome space epic, with (for it's time) stunning effects. Really slow and engrossing, funilly enough great for a sunday afternoon.
Although it is to some painfully slow, and maybe takes itself a bit too seriously, I felt it delivered on the mystery of space promise that the series merely hinted at. Great idea for V-GER too.... Good stuff.
