Visually, Star Trek TMP is very glorious. But as for storytelling, it's so mind-numbingly boring. While the effects initially dazzle, after looking at them for 20 minutes straight, you get bored with them.
The characters aren't developed, they're boring. There's almost no action in it, instead, we get boring reaction shots. The plot isn't interesting or executed well, it's boring. It tries to be like 2001: A Space Odyssey, but while 2001 was gripping, complex, and interesting, Star Trek TMP is just boring.
