Review of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) by David H — 01 Aug 2009
A sadly disappointing end to the Next Generation's cinematic adventures. Long-time fans will revel in the characters' new emotional beats - weddings, promotions, deaths - and the actors, as usual, shine (especially Stewart, unsurprisingly).
However, whilst the plot promises much, it fails to deliver on the action, with the film consisting of very static talky shots in dark rooms, with some running along identikit corridors. Somewhat mundane direction evidence of reduced budget further dampens excitement, although the emotional climax is perhaps a fitting send-off for fans, at least.
