Review of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) by Matthew D — 20 Aug 2016
Well, I have seen Star Trek (2009) and I will review that next, but I also went back this weekend and watched this one, the final movie based on the cast of Star Trek TNG. And I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
Star Trek: Nemesis was a pretty good movie. It was action packed. It had a pretty good storyline. It had some cool and unique special effects like when they smashed the two ships together. It was awesome to see the Romulans and Remans in a big screen role for the first time.
And while I initially hated the character of Shinzon, as the movie progressed I came to appreciate him and his contribution to the history of the franchise. He kind of reminds me of Lex Luthor in a way.
When I first saw this movie I hated that Data died, in a manner all too similar to Spock in Star Trek 2. But now I think it was the right thing to do since they never had any intentions on making another TNG movie after this one.
It was just one final Brent Spiner ego trip since he was one of the ones writing the movie, but it really doesn't bother me anymore. I hated the annoying B4 character though. We already had Lore (Bore), why did we need another Data clone? So this one is a good movie.
Now on to Star Trek (2009)...
