This is the absolute best Star Trek movie of all time! It was a joy to watch it again! I've seen it many, many times over the years to the point where I basically have it memorized but its still a great movie.

The storyline is really weird but they make it work very well. The "Save the Whales" thing actually works in this film. They don't turn it into politicized whining like they easily could have.

This is the only classic Star Trek film that was done as a comedy and its hilarious. "Double dumbass on you!" and so forth. Leonard Nimoy directed the film so he does a lot of development of the Spock character and does so in an awesome fashion.

To me, this movie featured the best of Spock, even better than in the original TV series. And since this movie was the first I ever saw of Star Trek as a kid, this is the way I always think of Spock. Extremely literal minded and slow witted.

There is very little I can say about this movie that is negative. The only thing I don't like is when they go back through the time warp and there's an acid trip sequence reminiscent of the first Star Trek movie.

Pointless and stupid. The storyline of this movie is actually quite similar to the first Star Trek film in that an alien probe is threatening earth and a seemingly insignificant event in the 20th century proves to save the earth of the future once Kirk and company figure it out.

I guess if there's one other thing I will pick on in this movie it is the ending. Kirk and the crew are reassigned to...The Enterprise?!? WTF?!? That makes no sense whatsoever. The Enterprise was destroyed in the third movie which immediately precedes this one.

How did they build a new Enterprise in that time? And why would they do so, knowing it was an outdated model AND that Kirk and the crew were going to be charged for treason? Makes zero sense and is totally unnecessary to conclude an otherwise outstanding film.

In conclusion, watch this movie! I don't care if you hate Star Trek. You'll still like this film. Its well acted, funny and has a captivating storyline.
