It's a bit of a step down mostly due to lacking the freshness and the humor of its predecessor. Still, "Star Trek Into Darkness" boasts magnificent performances (with Benedict Cumberbatch stealing the show), breathtaking special effects, outstanding action sequences and, possibly, the darkest and most violent story within the Star Trek universe.
