Review of Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) by Bob D — 23 Nov 2014
Paramount Studios has made two major declarative statements when they published this film:
1. Paramount Studios has zero pride in the Star Trek franchise and therefore expects no quality from their writers or directors.
2. Paramount Studios has contempt for their audience as they are willing to utterly destroy and strip a franchise of it's defining characteristics to pander to the populace at large. They could reboot any franchise and make it an exciting action/adventure film, but they chose deliberately to destroy Star Trek.
Captain Kirk, other than being a philanderer, used to be a character who was a strong and principled character. In Into Darkness, we see Kirk as a moron with no moral compass whatsoever, who shouldn't be in command of the Enterprise.
