The high ratings are well justified. This movie is a thrill packed roller coaster ride of dazzling special effects and great action. It also has a well written story line that really involves us with the characters.
The crew of the enterprise are great renditions of the famed characters of the 60s television show. And they might have even made those iconic characters even better! By the end of the film Chris Pine's Kirk is much more human than Shatner's version and that helps us form a special bond with him that we can relate to our own friendships.
