Review of Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) by Niloo R — 21 Jul 2014

Okay so I don't know if it's because these films are overly hyped as "good" by filmmaker standards, or if i'm just not an action person, but I always find myself underwhelmed. with the last one, I assumed it was because it was trying to establish the characters and set the world, but this film felt just as light and fluffy.

I was never really at the edge of my seat because the tension felt artificial and forced. there's always 2 seconds left before something explodes - and I guess that's just action film genre-writing, but maybe that's not for me.

regardless, as far as action films go, this was fun to watch (though sometimes because of it's preposterousness), and benedict cumberbatch was a real treat, as always :).
