Everyone takes the visuals and jokes so seriously. That is the point, they are old-fashioned and the intelligent crew are well read. But anyway, the real excitement comes when we see Jean Luc stick it to the Federation and say the right thing all the time.
I wish Anthropology could handle itself like the Starfleet crew can.
