Review of Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) by Misha C — 25 Jul 2018
Sub-par Star Trek films usually suffer from a good idea with poor execution, Insurrection doesn't even have that; using a tired plot that has been seen ad nauseum in each of the multiple TV series and done far better many times, it's never entertained for a moment that the two sides of the argument have equal validity.
There are some interesting wrinkles and revelations added in as well as some touching and enjoyable moments, mostly stemming from the ever-dependable cast. However, for the most part it is lacking in drama, diverts into cringe-worthy humour and is simply boring.
