Review of Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) by Peter D — 18 Jan 2008
A mediocre film at best, this ninth addition to the Star Trek franchise finds its strength in the moments of silliness and ridiculous humour. But the prevalence of gags and goofy one-liners is an indication of the weaknesses of the rest of the script: it needs these moments to relieve the audience of the tension of watching something rather pathetic.
Tony award winner Donna Murphy is a great addition to any cast, but even her graceful presence couldn't save the film from its extra purple dialog and plot that makes you go, "Who cares?".
