Review of Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) by Matthew D — 16 Aug 2016
Although this film has been criticised as being like an extended tv episode, I thought it was quite good and it held my attention. Although the plot could have been thought out a bit more, I felt it was fun and had humour and action.
As usual the characters of Geordi, Crusher, Troi and to a certain extent Riker and Worf are pushed to the sidelines with little to do. However Data and Picard get a lot, in fact one might say, too much screen time.
Tthere were a few silly scenes and some scenes which I felt were unnecessary and at times the dialogue showed how lazy the script writers had been. Worf's inclusion in the film was glossed over and never really explained properly, as he was meant to be on Deep Space Nine, during the continuity of this film.
However minor gripes aside I liked this film a lot more after not having seen it for quite a few years.
