This is not one of the best reviewed Treks of all time, but there is certainly a lot to like about it. For starters it is essentially a direct sequel to Kahn, as it picks up basically right where Kahn ended, so it really helps further that great story line. There is a lot more humor in this one than the first two movies, and I view that as a positive, the joking between Kirk and Bones has always been a highlight of the films and show.

The story itself is a pretty basic one, Spock's mind meld with Bones at the end Kahn has put Spocks soul into Bones body and some klingons are trying to obtain the Genesis project to use it as a weapon so the crew must race back to the Genesis planet to stop them, they find Spock and thus a film is born.

I think this simply has a bad rap because it was the film to follow Wrath of Kahn, and following up a classic like that is hard to be pleasing to everyone, it just can not measure up.
