Review of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) by Sean L — 06 Jan 2018
For me this disproves the rule that the odd number Star Trek movies suck. It is a worthy successor to Wrath of Khan, and seeing as it is a movie which needed to be made just because Nimoy changed his mind about the franchise, it isn't too shabby.
There are more things to forgive in this film, but there is so much I love. I love the rescue of Bones and the stealing of the Enterprise. I love the death of Kirk's son, and the destruction of the Enterprise.
The character interaction is there, and the side characters get more to do than before. The story works and even though there is no suspense, and even though I don't really understand what's going on with Spock's spirit, and even though its hilarious that they get him off the Genesis planet just as he reaches the same age he was before, it still is great fun.
