Review of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) by Scott S — 15 May 2009
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) -- [6.0] -- It's great to see the crew together again, even if Spock doesn't appear until the very end. Production values, including ILM's effects and James Horner's score, are excellent, but "Search for Spock" struggles to overcome a featherlight storyline.
I enjoy seeing the gang steal the Enterprise out of drydock, but I find all the scenes on the Genesis planet pretty boring, except for one rather sensuous scene between young Spock and Savvik. Merrit Butrick's character is killed off a little too unceremoniously for my taste.
But Christopher Lloyd is very good as the Klingon baddie and the final scenes on Vulcan are quite beautiful.
