Review of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) by Andy L — 30 Nov 2009
A great film, Star Trek First Contact, is one of the best of the TNG films series. It is a great mix of awesome action, drama and humour, not to mention also some fantastic special effects.
I am so glad that they packaged the Borg storyline for the original television series into this film, it was worthy of a movie and it had awesome potential and I believe it was done well in this case.
Patrick Stewert is fantastic and he leads the cast with great acting and good intensity. Also having the story-line surrounding him gives this movie strength as I believe that he is probably the best actor in the next couple of movies. Data is always fun and it was good to see more of Worf in this film.
Jonathon Frakes as actor and director did a fantastic job, as Leonard Nimoy did, in bringing this story to life. He seems to have an awesome understanding of what Star Trek is and what is needed to have a great movie.
All in all a great film, but it did have a few stupid moments that took the whole feel of the movie back to television level (not meaning that statement as a bad thing, it just didnt feel different to what we would watch in the original series).
85% is a fair rating, check it out!
