Review of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) by Cj S — 07 May 2009
Admittedly, the Borgs are nothing but zombies glossed over with "Alien" goo, but it works, and the Borg, nicely improved from their TV incarnations, manage to find themselves standing tall as a true threat to be reckoned with, especially with their creepy, newly introduced Queen.
The film itself is incredibly fun and wisely makes Cochrane much more interesting. The Picard/Lily relationship managed to be genuinely believable, despite the immediacy. Data also really got some very nice development (sadly perverted by the next two films).
Also, Deanna's drunk scene goes up there with Spock's casual swearing in IV as one of the funniest moments in Trek history.
