Review of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) by Brad S — 29 May 2009
The best of the Next Generation films, and that's disappointing in and of itself. Even at the pinnacle, the TNG movies were never able to successfully capture the best parts of the series.
Despite my personal disappointment, First Contact is suspenseful, fun, engaging, and epic. Exactly what a big-screen Star Trek adventure should be. The plot is also a little thin on logic and consistency, but the movie is more than enough fun for me to overlook those faults. Some excellent character moments from Picard and a lot of great action make First Contact a good Trek movie. Just don't go in thinking it's going to be better than "The Best of Both Worlds Pts I&II".
