While I feel the fans and followers of "Star Trek" want to see their favorite Enterprise Bridge Team in a deep, thought-provoking, clever science-fiction film, I also see nothing wrong with loving this movie.

"First Contact" is the eighth in the "Trek" film-series, and, while it may not be big on the science-fact and exploration themes of the series, it delivers in so many other ways. The plot is well-paced and action-packed, turning the TNG baddies, "the Borg", into full-out techno-zombies in this big-budget adventure film.

Along with providing some long-awaited history on the Federation, some very likable, charismatic newcomers, and plenty of character development, the feature feels well-rounded and epic throughout. With an effective, creeping villainess and Jonathan Frakes' directorial debut being a very impressive one, "Star Trek: First Contact" is extremely fun, satisfying, and engrossing, both to Trekkies and casual film-goers as well.

Believe it or not, you'll enjoy it. Resistence is futile.
