Review of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) by Austin T — 09 Apr 2010
I would not go so far as to call myself a Trekkie, but I do follow the different series. Still, this feature was the best the franchise had to offer (hell, a great sci-fi movie Star Trek or no), and will easily deem it as one of my favorites. Jonathan Frakes does a wonderful job for a feature film, and I can only wish to see more of his work.
The Borg ("Definitely not Swedish," says Lily - trailing behind Picard) are portrayed as one of the deadliest enemies that mankind has ever encountered, and this film gives us a truly terrifying storyline to explore just how unlike us they are (or are they?). Sure, as with any reaching sci-fi epic, there are some plot holes, but never so much as to spoil any of the fun.
