I'm going to give Simon Pegg all the credit for making this film so enjoyable for Star Trek fans. As the film's writer, he brought many little details into the film that only hardcore fans will recognize.
It just brings so much extra enjoyment to the film when you notice the loving extra touches that a fan like Pegg added for the benefit of other fans.
