Review of Star Trek (2009) by Kyle M — 19 Jul 2016
Abrams first ST entry is more straight ahead, super-slick fun than a barrel full of tribbles. The casting is great, carrying the spirit and chemistry of the classic ensemble without pandering. The way it plays with Kirk and Spock's friendship is wonderful, showing how they balance each other, even in ways that would seem counterintuitive to their shallowest of traits (Spock chasing the Romulans).
Great action, zippy dialogue, and fun lore make this a rousing modern blockbuster.
