Review of Standard Operating Procedure (2008) by Simon L — 29 Jul 2008
Errol Morris' scathing expose of the events in Abu Grahib prison is something of an event in itself. Created from interviews with those involved, reenactments and photographic evidence, this becomes an excellent reference of a single moment in time as well as a political indictement of the current US presidency's blasie attitude to the "war on terror".
While still remaining strictly factual, this also manages to be quite artistically satisfying and solidifies Morris' place as one of cinema's great documentarians.
