Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Carmen G — 06 Oct 2011

We were about the same age as the characters in this movie when it was released on um, *cough* VHS, and even though we were girls, we completely related to these guys. The uncertainty of a new school, whether or not we would remain friends, feeling misunderstood by parents and teachers and other adults, and the oasis that we found in our friendship all played a part in our love for this movie.

I've had the pleasure of sharing this movie with my children and they both love it. My youngest daughter plays a couple of scenes over and over and giggles every time. This movie and her laughter never get old.
