Review of Stand by Me (1986) by Leslie H — 01 Dec 2016
We all have those childhood memories that evolved us into the adults we are today. "Stand by Me," director Rob Reiner's film adaptation of Steven King's Novel, The Body, recounts the story of four 12 year old boys from 1950's Castle Rock, Oregon as they embark on an incredible journey to find a dead body. On their comical journey the boys discover themselves as they conquer fears, test their limits, and bid farewell the last of their childhood innocence.
Even 30 years after its initial release date, " Stand by Me" is still a film worth watching. The film transports audiences back in time to their childhood with its all star cast, and fun 50's music bringing on a feeling of nostalgia. With so many comedic moments the film is guaranteed to win many laughs. Don't be deceived however; the film runs much deeper than a comedy as the four boys embark on a journey of self-discovery. "Stand by Me" is a film anyone can relate to and will pull on the strings of the heart.
