Review of Stalag 17 (1953) by Alister N — 05 Jun 2007
As the opening monologue points, most war movies prior to this dealt with the battle. A well-conceived drama with enough humour to stave off the darker elements, and a brilliant all-round cast of cynics and wise-guys equally.
An earnest film, but a memorable one all the more for it.
