Review of Stalag 17 (1953) by Larry D — 21 Aug 2008
I call this one my favorite Billy Wilder movie and my favorite William Holden performance, even though Holden didn't want to take this role and didn't give much of an Oscar Acceptance speech. This war-comedy-drama takes place in a German POW camp during World War II, and it shows us the results of what can happen to some after being locked up in a prison camp for so long.
Some scenes are humorous, some are dramatic, and it all leads up to an intense climax that deserves to be loved. Overall, this is one of my all-time favorites.
