Review of Stalag 17 (1953) by Samantha S — 19 Apr 2010
Fascinating. Always an undercurrent of both dark comedy and tragedy, the obvious inspiration for Hogan's Heroes. Funny to see Harvey Lembeck do something other than Eric Von Zipper, and amusing to see Otto Preminger, the director, play the commandant of the camp.
Superb writing, filming, acting.
