Review of Stake Land (2010) by Hector G — 28 Sep 2010
Stake Land is a new take on the vampire genre, well maybe not necessarley a new take but a reworking of other horror elements with vampires. The film starts out witha boy witnessing his family being killed off by a vampire when a stranger known as Mister comes in to kill the vampire and take the boy under his wing.
Together they run into friendliest and nasties as they advance towards a safe haven appropriately named New Eden (big surprise). The film is well constructed and will appeal to the general public, but as for the diehards that are really trying to find something new the film plays out like a serious version of Zombieland with vampires.
