Review of Stake Land (2010) by Pamela F — 06 Jun 2011
Glad I stumbled across this little gem. Maybe I'm a bit biased - being in love with my gritty, bleak & atmospheric films - but this is one excellent piece of cinema. At points of the film there is no dialogue, but thats where new director Mickle has triumphed; by letting the beautiful, powerful score tell the story and convey the emotions.
Full of action, and never seeming to drag, this will keep you gripped. Not an average vampire flick though, the character development, atmospheric landscapes and bleak situations make it so much more.
Great outcome from such a low budget, this director is definitely one to watch.
