Review of Stake Land (2010) by Chris A — 06 Jul 2011
A fresh yet grim return to the beloved wastelands where horror and apocalypse meet, in a wisely told yarn that crafts the best and bleakest of traditional end of the world sagas - death of grass, the road warrior and the road come to mind, and the more recent slew of movies infesting the rabid vampire genre like 30 days of night.
The result is a gripping and unyielding journey of darkness, set after a catastrophic war between humans and a vampire plague, that has left the USA a wasteland of crazies and religious military compounds, across which the hopeful must trek cross country northwards hoping to find sanctuary in Canada.
So in that sense it's almost a true story too...seriously though I don't say it often enough nowadays, but a great and hardworking indie movie.
