Review of Stake Land (2010) by Bud L — 01 Sep 2011
Zombieland minus the hipster snark (with vampires), The Road (with vampires), a post-apocalyptic Mallickian America (with vampires); in short, a very well done genre exercise that's pretty to look at, has something to say about the world, with solid, grounded, believable performances that gets all the little things right and most of the big things to boot. One misstep, but it's forgivable, and just owes more to simple.
Plot, genre contrivances. Damn good flick.
