Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Michael K — 31 Dec 2007
Up and down paced action road movie that delivered little action until the final quarter of the film. For the time, it's very impressive, particularly the location shooting, however it was really the introduction of characters to the story that was the film's strength.
Funny, socio-political and very much an American film, John Wayne pretty much stole every scene he was in, often through the slightest of facial expressions. There was one scene in the film where the stagecoach where the camera is positioned somewhere on top of the coach and that shot alone was worth watching the entire film for.
