Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Lizzie R — 23 Aug 2008
Absolutely fantastic film. Although I came to it knowing nothing about westerns, even less about the older black and white westerns. I really enjoyed as a marvellous, entertaining film but also as a Hollywood account of the Wild West when it was still 'wild'.
John Wayne is a great hero, Claire Trevor a stunning heroine & Thomas Mitchell a brilliant performer, capable of both the serious and comedic aspects of his turn. Couldn't fault this film at all.
