Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Joel A — 20 Jul 2010
John Ford truly was a name unto himself, a true cinematic legend, as many once labelled him 'he was the man of the west!'.
This film is fantastic you can see why many label this as the grandfather of westerns, truly one of the gems of that golden year of hollywood in 1939.
The story itself is so simple, but it's the characters that fill this story that make it so enriching. They all have such variety and add so much to the film. The film is exciting alone with all the indian chases, show downs, saloon brawls, wide shots of the west, but it's the people that fill the stagecoach that kept me immersed.
If your interested in giving a western a go, this is the film to see, has so much going for it. A true classic and of course John Wayne is in it....just in case you where wondering...
