Review of Stagecoach (1939) by D M — 11 Feb 2015
A group of strangers: a prostitute, an alcoholic medical doctor (both driven out of town by the teetotaling Women's League), a flamboyant homosexual whiskey-maker, a very wooden (think Kristen Stewart) preggo wife of a military officer, a prostitute-with-a-heart-of-gold, a banker who absconded with all the bank's money, and Confederate gambler (John Carradine) head out in Arizona Injun country on a stagecoach.
Along they way the find the outlaw john Wayne. On the journey there's romance (which actually dominates the final act), childbirth, fights, etc, but the big pay off is when Geronimo and his band of redskins attempt to slaughter the motley crew.
Great action and stunts! As one would expect, there are a lot of funny parts with all the different character-types.
