Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Sham K — 03 May 2012
The classic John Ford picture which made a star out of John Wayne back in 1939 is an exhilerating and entertaining western, as well as a mesmerising character study. On the surface you have the exciting story, choc-full of gunfights and American Old West landscapes, yet also, the film is deep down about the extremely different characters and how they interact with each other in this setting.
Although there were westerns before it, this film served as the template for almost all future movies like it. A stunning film.
