Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Ryan P — 26 Nov 2012
From Wikipedia: ''Orson Welles argued that it was a perfect textbook of film making and claimed to have watched it more than 40 times during the making of Citizen Kane.''.
Enough said. Very satisfying film from John Ford, his first sound Western. I absolutely loved everything about it... well, except for the way the film illustrates the Native Americans as ''savages.'' This was also the movie that made John Wayne a star. I think it's way better than Ford's ''The Searchers,'' which is usually regarded as his best film, but which I have no appeal for. Highly recommended.
