Review of Stage Door (1937) by Mathieu M — 18 Mar 2008
1937 ? How can it be possible ? This movie is more modern than any other recent comedies. Brilliant dialogs, brillant actresses (though a little bit sexist, but what else at this time ?). Yes, Ginger Rogers is an amazing dancer, but she's also an amazing actress, full of irreverence and black humor (see "Storm Warning", her greatest role, in which she faces the brutality of KKK rednecks.
..). Golden age of Hollywood comedies, you said ?
