Review of St Trinian's (2007) by Connor M — 08 Oct 2010
Connor Macgregor Reviews...St. Trinians.
People of America...I give you life in a girls British School...and trying to make it funny.
St Trinians proudly continues to represent the unacceptable face of British education. When the new Minister of Education announces he will personally sort the place out he doesn't realise either the enormity of the task or that the headmistress is an old flame. The school is anyway threatened with closure by their bank; with the staff clearly a waste of space the girls realise the responsibility to save the day falls on them. Perhaps a painting popularised by Scarlett Johansson might be the way out?
Quite bad this film is. First of all , almost every pupil in the film is over 21 (Gemma Arterton anyone ?) and it shows in the film. The Plot is just stupid as hell. They have to steal some jewel or whatever to repay their debts and to do that they must win a quiz show hosted by the immortal Stephen Fry (Legend). Never the less the comedy isn`t that funny and the schoolgirls just look like poledancers trying to look good. Colin Firth does put in a good performance but Rubert Everett is just creepy as The Headmistress.
Overall , really rubbish film with an unrealistic look at out of control school children.
Rating - 28% - C-.
