Review of St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold (2009) by Molly H — 29 Dec 2009
The girls are back in town with the 6th installment of the rogue schoolgirl series. After the re - vamp 2 years ago I was exstatic at how they managed to update it and keep things fresh then the makers announced a sequel was in the works, so naturally excited I went to see it with high expectations.
The film is an original story unlike St Trinians 2007 which in fact was a remake of one of the original films. The things I loved about this film were the soundtrack like the first one they have a knack of picking classic british songs from the last couple of years putting them to a scene and bringing an extra dimension to the film. The acting this time round was still very high with Talulah Riley, Colin Firth, Rupert Everett and new boy David Tennant they all brought the funny and really showed how much fun can be had with these films even though the critics seem to hate them. The story for this was really good and although it is bascially a british national treasure it still was fun to see the whole St Trinians angle.
The bad things were that I felt this film had become a bit to much of a kids film and while I loved it, it didnt have that raunchy feel the 2007 film had. Russell Brand was no where in this film and I dont know what happened there I would've loved a cameo from him because he was actually one of the best things in the other film and although I hate him and find his comedy shit and that was one of the few characters I like of his so shame they didnt bring him back hopefully for the next one. Sarah Harding was terrible in this film she was just a token character and when she tried to act I just cringed and I hope if they do another they drop her character, just terrible.
Overall a very enjoyable night at the cinema, if you have young children it will be a real treat for them as well.
