Generic? Yes, of course. Its own plot and structure force it to do so.
But even so, works fine with what it has. This is a personal comparison, but this movie does better what Venom couldn't and I say that because it has elements that make them similar.
Sputnik didn't surprise me, but it has a decent and respectable quality.
