Review of Spring Breakers (2013) by Deanna M — 13 Sep 2013
I don't mind violent films with a lot of sex, drugs and nudity as long as it is done with some style and purpose. There is no purpose to this Spring Break film about four very bored college girls who spend the entire film in their bikinis partying, hitting bongs, getting drunk and robbing people. None of the girls are established enough for us to care and there is no redeeming qualities at the end. Ironically, the best part of the movie was James Franco, who plays a rapper named Alien, who bails the girls out after they get arrested and has plans for them. Most of the time I was wondering if I was watching a film or a 90 minute softcore.
Grade: D+.
