Review of Spring Breakers (2013) by That Guy C — 25 Oct 2013
This is a very unforgettable movie. No matter if you liked it or hated it. I found it to be very interesting and good. Janes Franco did a VERY good job in his role! I was very excited for this movie and I found it to be overall very entertaining.
The movie lost a bit of its touch when Faith (Selena Gomez) left because that was the only character that was innocent. The movie never goes anywhere but if you watch it again, you pick up some foreshadowing and clues about the characters.
Harmony Korine films are NOT for children. With movies like Gummo and Kids, I knew what to expect. This is Korine's first "mainstream" movie and a really good one in my opinion. He doesn't really tell you the story right up front, he gives you the imagery and you have to think for yourself.
It loses a star for some unnecessary actions that are really stupid but thats only 1 or 2 scenes. There is a LOT of repetitive scenes and lines that are used frequently throughout the film. This is one of Korine's best movies.
It has the parties, candy colored themes, drama and some beautiful women. This movie is probably one of the most unforgettable movies of the year (as Richard Roeper says). The movie has things that work together to portray spring breakers in Florida.
Thats why I gave it *** out of **** stars.
