Review of Spring Breakers (2013) by Gary M S — 02 Jan 2016
I had high expectations for a James Franco flick. This movie was a spring break sized letdown. Between the far too many spring break party slow motion montages (yes, I get it spring break is a wild time, I actually pretty much already knew that) and the overly played out scenes, this movie was an arduous journey to nowhere.
The number one rule of storytelling is to make the audience care about the characters. All the characters involved are awful people. Who would root for them? The one character that drew a modicum of empathy leaves the story, once it finally gets going.
James Franco was good, but a wasted talent. And the dialogue, repetitive. And the dialogue, repetitive. A truly awful music video, er... movie. All the montages and scenery moments removed, this is a 45 minute direct to DVD.
