Review of Spread (2009) by Matthew F — 28 Jan 2010
I like Ashton Kutcher, I do. No, he's not the best actor alive; well, he's not even a good actor at all, but he tries, he is a risk taker, and I believe at least in his case, you can tell he's trying and I am sure that it is much better than doing nothing.
This is the third serious film I have seen with Mr. Kutcher in the leading role, and besides The Butterfly Effect perhaps, I have to admit that the film, the plot is really... wrong. The trailer makes you believe it's a corny comedy about a gigolo who falls in love with a regular girl and blah blah blah.
.. but it's nothing like that at all. This is a serious film with unfortunate results. It just doesn't get anywhere. Something is lacking here... Anne Heche is great I must say, and maybe Sebastian Stan could have played a better gigolo.
At least he's by far a much better actor, BUT, again, Ashton Kutcher tries, and I applaud him.
