Review of Spread (2009) by Jussi E — 27 Dec 2011
Porn with everything except breasts covered; a "sex romp". If you want to see this film done well, watch Hors de prix.
In retrospect I think the film had an artistic point that tried to justify all the sex - or at least this way it was slightly more interesting to watch. Sex is often glorified in films like these, but the message of this one seemed to be that sex for its own sake is sad and lonely - the protagonist is called "empty" by the other characters. (On the other hand, he doesn't seem to be any happier in the end when he isn't hustling anymore.).
This point was driven home by showing meaningless thrusting in all the different Kama Sutra positions (I think this covers maybe 50% of the film). This method felt avant-garde at best, because it made the film incredibly boring to watch.
