Review of Spotlight (2015) by Jeff W — 09 Sep 2016

Not sure why it won best picture, aside from the nature of its story.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie. It's thematically heavy and emotionally moving. It also offers an interesting examination into corruption, power, and politics. But there was nothing in the execution that blew me away (though maybe some of the more poignant moments may have been removed because I watched the film edited).
